Gerardo Cornejo Velez attended Monterrey Institute of Technology and Higher Education, where he majored in Industrial Engineering and minored in Finance. He earned his BsC in Industrial Engineering in 2002 and within a few years he’d begun to shape the investment strategies that would define his career. In 2004 Gerardo founded Knightsbridge Hospitality, a group brand that represented companies in the real estate and hospitality industries.
In 2007 Gerardo began to work toward his MBA at University of Oxford – Said Business School. During his time at Oxford, Gerardo was interviewed for a CNN article in which he explained the unparalleled benefits of studying higher education in Europe. After graduating Gerardo became a Partner in Knightsbridge Hotel Partners LLP, a consulting firm in hotel real estate investment for foreign investors. In 2010 he became the CEO of Knightsbridge Family Office and he oversees its diversified investment strategy.
Much of Gerardo’s professional and personal impact on Latin American markets is thanks to his position as CEO of Legacy Investments. Legacy Investments is a UK-based company which works with European financiers who want to invest in emerging markets throughout Latin America and particularly Mexico. The company was an active member of the Mexican Venture Capital and Private Equity Association (AMEXCAP) in 2014. It is also registered with the GIIN (Global Impact Investing Network).
Gerardo carefully guides Legacy’s investments to create sustainable social impacts, and the company has backed important initiatives in industrial agriculture, major Information Technology projects, and more. Gerardo has also involved Legacy Investments in global conferences. Legacy was a sponsor of Private Wealth Management summits through Marcus Evans during 2014 in Dubai, Hong Kong and Montreux. The company also sponsored the 2013 Elite Summit in Montreux.
